Install guide

Up and running in four steps.

You need Premiere Pro 2020 (version 14) or later, and the .zxp file from your email.

  1. 1

    Get the file

After you start a trial or buy, you get an email with your licence key and a download link for OneClickSort_v1.x.x.zxp.

  2. 2

    Install it

Quit Premiere Pro. Install the free aescripts ZXP Installer or Anastasiy’s Extension Manager, then drag the .zxp onto it.

  3. 3

    Open the panel

Start Premiere Pro and choose Window › Extensions › One-Click Sort. Dock it next to your Project panel.

  4. 4

    Activate

Paste the key from your email when the panel asks. If Ctrl+V does nothing, right-click the box and choose Paste.

Panel not in the Extensions menu?

Quit Premiere completely and reopen it. Still missing? Email support with your Premiere version and computer type.

Install by hand

Rename the .zxp to .zip and unzip it. Copy what is inside into a folder called com.guyde.oneclicksort here, then restart Premiere Pro:

Windows C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\CEP\extensions
Mac /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions

Move to a new computer

On the old computer, open Settings and choose Deactivate. Activate on the new one with the same key. If the old computer died, email support and we will free up the slot.

Update

Install the new .zxp the same way. It replaces the old one. Your settings and rules stay.

Uninstall

Remove it in your ZXP installer, or delete the com.guyde.oneclicksort folder. Your projects are not affected.

FAQ

Questions editors ask.

Does it delete or move my media files?

No. It only moves items between bins inside your Premiere project. Files on your drives are never moved, renamed or deleted.

Does it ever write anything to my drives?

Only once: before it merges duplicates, it saves a dated copy of your project file next to the original.

Can I undo a sort?

Yes. Undo keeps your last 20 actions for each project, including sorts, moves and merges. Undo keeps working even when a trial ends.

How does it decide where things go?

Your own rules come first. Then what you have taught it with Assign and remember. Then its own judgement from file types, names, length and folders. When it is not sure, it says so and lets you choose.

Can I sort just part of a project?

Yes. Select items in the Project panel and choose to sort your selection.

Does it work on Mac?

It is built for Premiere Pro on Windows and Mac. Testing so far has been on Windows, so please use the free trial to check it on your Mac before you buy.

Which Premiere Pro versions are supported?

Premiere Pro 2020 (version 14) and later. It is built and tested on version 26.

Will it slow Premiere down?

Auto-sort and the watch folder check for changes every few seconds in the background. Big sorts run in batches with a progress bar, and you can stop one part-way.

Does it work with Team Projects or Productions?

It sorts the project that is open. It has not been tested with Team Projects or Productions yet, so try it on a copy first.

Does it send my project anywhere?

No. Sorting happens on your computer. The only thing sent over the internet is your licence check. See Privacy.

What if I buy and it is not for me?

Email within 14 days of purchase for a full refund. See the refund policy.
